One of the great "accessorations," that is found in most parts of the world, is the Moleskine. This legendary notebook, born in 1997, celebrates the notebook's of great artists and thinkers of the past two centuries .... painters from Van Gogh to Picasso, & writers from Hemingway to Chatwin. These celebrated, "little black books" have become symbols of the creative process, taking on a significance of their own .... doodles, writings, addresses, notes, pictures, and stories have found their way on to a variety of pages, in a number of ways. We "modern-day nomads" use these books as treasure chests .... reminding us of our own journey's and charting our personal every day experiences. Amazingly .... there are dozens of websites, blogs, pictures, and videos devoted to these beloved notebooks. As well as exhibitions and contests created by the company that founded them!!!!
DETOUR, a traveling exhibition of unique, personal notebooks created by 50 plus international artists, architects, writers, illustrators, musicians, and designers has gone to London, Paris, New York, Berlin, and Istanbul ..... and is arriving today in Tokyo at the MOMA Design Store. Included in the images above are pages from the notebooks of ..... architect Michael Graves .... artists Astro Vivid Focus & Massimo Vitali ..... and art curator, critic, and writer Hans Ulrich Obrist. This is only a small sampling of the exhibit, which is extraordinary!!!
Most importantly......Detour is a non-profit foundation whose mission is "to promote the right to literacy, to education and the access to knowledge all over the world, and especially in the most deprived areas."
This maybe the best "accessory" to date!!!!!!!!!!!!
