As a lover of books, who never has enough space for them.....one of my favorite interior details of Ellen Nora Goldstein's house is this bookcase that she created when she decided to remove a wall!!!! Removing the sheet rock, leaving the studs standing, and readjusting the cross bars on a variety of angles......created this whimsical "shelf sculpture" that is both bookcase and room divider. To me, the whole design is incredible, but I think one of the most fantastical elements is filling the space in the floor, that was left when the sheet rock was removed, with rocks set into cement!!!
I am awed by how creative Ellen Nora is...... and that she has spent thirteen years "redesigning and renovating" her home inspires me!!!! She says "I never designed anything on paper I just felt that's what I had to do and as I worked on it I got constantly new ideas. I don't think it will ever be done......" Seeing the rest of her house confirms that thought to me!!!!!
The room that sings with a cacophony of color and materials, as well as "GREAT STUFF" is the kitchen.....come see it tomorrow!!!!!
How do you clean this? LOL
that's incredible!
btw - where is your store - in the Hamptons????
